Archival Bookbinding & Conservation Papers

Griffen Mill's archival handmade paper is made in the traditional European manner from different blends of cotton, linen & hemp fibers and is designed for bookbinding & paper conservation. The range includes laid & wove papers with different characteristics.

Bookbinding papers are made in several weights and can be handled easily when damp. All papers
are internally buffered & neutrally sized to give a pH reading of between 7.3 - 8.4. Weights range from 55gsm to 150 gsm.
They are mainly used as endpapers & for leaf repair.

For spine repair there is a  soft ,bulky, long fibered jute tissue which can be moulded  & coloured to repair bumped corners & spines.

Finding an endpaper for large heavy books such as ledgers can be difficult. Griffen Mill 's ledger paper is a tough white handmade paper that has been successfully used to solve this bookbinding problem.
