Bookbinding & Conservation Papers 

 

Griffen Mill's archival handmade paper is made in the traditional European manner from different blends of cotton, linen & hemp fibers and is specifically designed to meet the needs of bookbinders & paper conservators.

 

BOOKBINDING PAPERS are made in several weights and can be handled easily when damp. All papers

are internally buffered & neutrally sized to give a pH reading of between 7.3 - 8.4. Weights range from 55gsm to 150 gsm.

ARCHIVAL TISSUE PAPER. The tissues have a good wet strength, are internally buffered & neutrally sized to give a pH reading of between 7.3 - 8.4.

 

 

 

GELATINE SIZED LEDGER PAPER. New for 2012,this is a hard white,gelatine sized laid paper with a smooth surface (CP).Like the other Griffen Mill papers it is internally buffered & neutrally sized. Bookbinders may find it useful as replacement semi glazed endpapers for Victorian bindings.  Weight 140 gms.

 

 

ARCHIVAL PULP FOR LEAFCASTING in DRY BOARD FORM

For many years we have also been supplying pre beaten pulp in four basic tones for leafcasting. In response to conservators wishing for as pure a product as possible, this unsized pulpboard is made from a blend of hemp & rag cotton fibres. The only additives are calcium carbonate & dyestuff.
